Cambodia News (Kompong Speu Province): A heinous crime was committed on July 30, 2022, in Tropang Kreounh village, Kompong Speu province, when a 5-month-old baby was killed by his 29-year-old drug addict father, Boeurn Rathy. The baby was brutally beaten at home, while the mother was out farming at the rice paddy field.

When the wife came home, the husband told her that the baby, named Thy, was suffering from sickness and needed to go to hospital for treatment. They took the child to the Kuntheakbupha Children's Hospital, but the child succumbed to his injuries: a broken left arm, bruised forehead, and a broken right skull.

The mother strongly suspected that her baby had died from her husband's abuse, so she called the police and reported him. An autopsy confirmed the woman's suspicions. The baby's body also held traces of previous abuse, such as bruising and burn marks.

The suspect was arrested and is being held in custody for further investigation.
