Influential Woman Allegedly Orders Release of Seized Rare Wood
Rattanakiri Trailer Full of Illegal Precious Timber Released Due to Lady with Influence
Cambodia News (Ratanakkiri): It is reported that on 22 July 2022 a Phnom Penh lady (whose name is well known, but will not be revealed here), used her husband, a high-ranking official of a ministry to order law enforcement officers and relevant professional officers in Mondulkiri Province to release a trailer full of wood (by the name of V1) from Stung Treng Province, confiscated by authorities of Ratanakkiri province.
The trailer that was seized by the police was found to carry precious wood from the new forest area cut into neat lumber blocks and stacked full. Upon seizure, the police immediately transferred the trailer to storage with the authorities in Ratanakkiri Province. However, in just less than a minute after, news went round that the lady's husband, who was a senior official of a ministry in Phnom Penh, ordered the release of the said trailer full of wood.
According to sources from honest officials, the trailer was traveling from Stung Treng province via the old National Road 78. When it arrived at Krabei Chrum Village, Kon Mom District, Ratanakkiri Province, it was stopped and seized by provincial authorities and police force. Experts and authorities sent the trailer back to Ratanakkiri to prepare the case according to procedures.
However, the trailer carrying the full load of wood was held at Ratanakkiri Province for only a cricket’s breath before being released, causing those loyal and honest officers to shake their heads in disbelief.
Honest officials told CEN that a director of the Ratanakkiri Provincial Department acted under the influence of his wife, allegedly at the behest of another lady from Phnom Penh, who is said to be the wife of a very senior ministry officer, and his name is known to all. So much so that officials in Ratanakkiri Province, fearing retribution from this Lok Chumteav and her husband, immediately jumped to order the release of the trailer that was transporting precious wood out of Cambodia illegally.
It is learned that the timber was not transported to the Vietnamese border via the O'Yadaw international border crossing, but to Kratie province and beyond. CEN will continue to monitor the location of this trailer laden with precious wood and will make a detailed report.

Seems oddly specific considering there are hundreds, if not thousands, of similar loads coming from all forested provinces of Cambodia each evening and night
Standard fee at each checkpoint would be 50'000 for every group of "Honest officials" - paid dozens of time per load per evening
I wonder why this one was singled out

At a guess, perhaps some of the "honest officials" in this case were not paid. (Hence the complaint to journalists.)Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Sun Jul 24, 2022 4:26 pm Seems oddly specific considering there are hundreds, if not thousands, of similar loads coming from all forested provinces of Cambodia each evening and night

Jesus, think about how annoying those two old hags must be for their husbands to do all this for them.
"Either get her the shipment of wood or she stops me from seeing my three girlfriends for a year, dusty old coot won't work for this fella!"
