Cambodia News (Battambang): On 19 July 2022, the Battambang Provincial Gendarmerie Special Forces launched a crackdown on a case of aggravated theft by a gang of teenagers - a motorcycle robbery with machetes. The Gendamerie stated in its press release that the robbery took place at 3:40am, by National Road 57B in Damnak Dangkor Village, Battambang Province.

Late at night or early morning, (close to 4am), nine people riding on three motorcycles, armed with knives and swords, ambushed and robbed a male farm worker driving a black Honda Dream 125 motorcycle, 2022 series (Battambang 1AP-4074). The victim of the robbery was a 48 year old man, Kong Non.He then went to file a complaint at the specialized police force’s office, and the police arrested the 9 suspects at Wat Romduol Village, Sangkat Chamkar Samrong, Battambang City, the next morning at 10:30am on 20 July.

The 9 gang members who were arrested are all teenagers: 18 years old student Chev Ratana, 15 year old Thoeut Bunhav, 16 year old Sith Rasin, 15 year old Sok Sopheak, 14 years old Don Meng Houy, 17 year old Chhay Rochet, 20 year old Kea Vicheka, 14 year old Neath Theansing, and 16 year old Det.
The exhibits confiscated by police included four black Honda Dream C-125 motorcycles, three machetes and two motorcycle license plates.
After interrogation, the suspects and exhibits have been detained pending trial.
