Buying from Alibaba.

Post by Prairieoyster »

I am looking at buying some commercial baking equipment from China. It's not a huge order, it's just things I can't locate in Cambodia.

I would like to know if anyone has experience importing goods from China through Alibaba.

Do they ship to your door or do you have to pick up at a depot?

How are duties and taxes paid and is there a way to determine them in advance? Does Alibaba arrange customs brokerage?

Thx

It's extremely unlikely Alibaba will arrange Customs brokerage here. They might supply delivered to your door but you will still need to clear here. You will also be responsible for duty and VAT, rates are on this site https://customs.gov.kh/en/publications/ ... ia-km-2022

A lot of the manufacturing areas are under strict quarantine and unable to fulfill orders. Some will gladly take your money but are unable to deliver the goods. In some circumstances it is difficult to communicate with sellers to get full refund.
Ali Baba is mainly a wholesale site selling to businesses. Ali Express is the retail site for the same products selling to consumers.
