That’s all very quick and convenient, except maybe for the victim.
ID card shows expired, and the mugshot suggests he’s aged a bit. Somewhat wearing being Chinese. Or Vietnamese, when connected with the casino business,

It even says "Expired Date." Wants to be careful. He might get into some trouble working with an expired card.Freightdog wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 2:18 am That’s all very quick and convenient, except maybe for the victim.

A Chinese man was killed on Saturday over a $3,000 debt at Bavet city’s Moc Bai casino, commune police said.
Chhin Cheang, acting Bavet commune police chief, said construction materials supplier Zhu Jun Sheng, 32, had killed casino resident Gong Jiangyong, 38, over a $3,000 debt.
Provincial and city police had investigated and found the debt was unpaid, Cheang said.
“Five of our officers went down there, but only two could get inside the compound,” the police chief added.
Provincial police chief Koeng Khorn and deputy Kuy Sopheap declined to comment. Provincial court spokesman Tep Phalla said the case was in the hands of prosecutors.
City police chief Em Sovannarith, however, denied there had been such a case.
The casino has five directors all originally from Myanmar. They have all been granted Cambodian citizenship, two in 2003 and the other three in 2019, according to government records. The company’s listed contact email and phone number matches a Facebook account, Wei Maly, which has also posted various photos with senior military general Kun Kim, as well as with military police commander Sao Sokha and the prime minister’s nephew Hun To.

Re: Chinese Suspect Arrested for Mok Bai Casino Murder
APPEAL !
Zhu Jun Sheng, is appealing his seven year prison sentence received for beating and torturing a man to death for a $3,000 debt. He is asking the court to be released in return for the payment of US$10,000.
[NOTE:In this case, it seems likely that the murderer was paid by a third party to "rough up" the victim, who then died inconveniently while being tortured.
It is likely that this third party, (probably connected to the management at Moc Bai casino in Bavet), have put up $10K to get their man out of jail.]

Court rejects appeal of convicted foreigner-murderer*

[*NOTE: The Khmer Times headline says the appeal is rejected, but this is not mentioned in the article.]
The Phnom Penh Appeal Court yesterday rejected the appeal of a Chinese man sentenced last year by Svay Rieng Provincial Court to seven years in prison for beating and torturing his countryman to death. The motive for the murder was over an alleged debt, which the victim failed to repay.
Presiding Judge Yun Narong named the accused as Zhu Jun Sheng, 43, a former online materials supplier and money lender employed at a casino in Bavet city, Svay Rieng province.
Judge Narong named the murder victim as Gong Jiang Yong, 38, a Chinese national also employed at Moc Bai Casino.
He said that the accused and the victim worked together.
The judge added that the victim allegedly owed $3,000 to the accused.
He said that at 10pm on the evening of June 28 last year, the accused called the victim for a meeting at his room in the 6th Floor of the casino.
During their meeting, Zhu demanded the return of his money. However, the victim said that he did not have any money.
The judge said that later the same night they argued with each other. Enraged, the accused grabbed the victim and beat him.
On the evening of June 30 both men got into another argument. The accused attacked and beat the victim again.
Then, during the late evening of July 1 both men fought again. Zhu beat Gong and then poured scalding water over his body.
The judge added that the victim died in hospital the next day due to the severity of his injuries. On the same day, the accused was arrested.
On December 9 last year, Svay Rieng Provincial Court sentenced Zhu, on a charge of “intentional acts of violence with aggravating circumstances”, to seven years with the term reduced to five years in prison.
During the appeal hearing yesterday, Zhu confessed to his crime, but claimed he did not intend to kill the victim.
“I’m living with heart disease and high blood pressure as well as diabetes, so I ask the court to release me,” Zhu said.
“I will deposit $10,000 in cash with the court in exchange for my release,” he said.
A verdict is due on June 30.
