Why don't they just call it Techo Meas Techo Yot airport then? There are about ten other structures named Techo...

Prince Bank invests additional $35 million in Techo International Airport Guaranteed Bond

Prince Bank Plc invested an additional $35 million – totalling $50 million – in the Techo International Airport (TIA) Guaranteed Bond on Thursday.

Prince Bank said it is “an honour” to be part of such an important transportation infrastructure development, one that “bodes well” for the Kingdom for decades to come. Prince Bank is the first and now largest subscriber in the TIA bond issue.

Together with Cambodia Airport Investment Co, Ltd (CAIC) and Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC), a signing ceremony was held for the additional$35 million investment in the Guaranteed Bond Agreement.

The Techo International Airport Guaranteed Bond Issue (TIA) is a private corporate bond issued by Cambodia Airport Investment Co, Ltd (CAIC) for the construction of the Techo International Airport located south of Phnom Penh.

AMK Invests US$1 Million in CAIC Bond to Support Techo International Airport Construction
AKP Phnom Penh, May 06, 2022 --
AMK Microfinance Institution Plc. on Friday invested US$1 million in the Techo International Airport Guaranteed Bond through private placement, becoming the first MFI in Cambodia in the airport development.

The funds raised from Techo International Airport Guaranteed Bond will be used for the construction and development of Techo International Airport in Kandal province.

The coupon rate of CAIC bond is 5.5 percent per annum with three-year tenor and guaranteed by OCIC.

Mr. Kea Borann, CEO of AMK Microfinance Institution Plc., said that AMK is proud to be the first microfinance institution to invest in the Techo International Airport Guaranteed Bond and support the development of this project, which will drive the economic growth and development in Cambodia.

CAIC is a joint venture between the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) represented by the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation and OCIC, a largest investment group and local conglomerate in Cambodia.

The RGC has granted CAIC the rights to own, design, construct, finance, operate, maintain and manage Techo International Airport Project.

AMK is one of Cambodia’s leading MFIs in terms of outreach. AMK has 150 operating branches, and nearly 7,000 agents nationwide.

Construction of Takhmao Techo International Airport 30 Percent Completed
AKP Phnom Penh, June 16, 2022 --
The construction of Takhmao Techo International Airport has achieved about 33 percent and is expected to finish in 2024.

The update was shared by H.E. Mao Havannall, Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation when leading a visit of investors to the construction site on June 14.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the construction of this international airport has managed to progress, he said.

Encompassing 2,600 hectares in Takhmao town and Kandal Stung district of Kandal province and Bati district of Takeo province, the airport construction was estimated to cost around US$1,500 million.

SIA Engineering to form JV with Cambodia Airport Investment

Flight June 23SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC) and Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd (CAIC) announced that they have signed joint venture agreement to form a line maintenance joint venture in Cambodia. Under the agreement, SIAEC will hold a 51% equity stake in the joint venture, with CAIC holding 49%.

The joint venture will establish line maintenance services at the new international airport in Phnom Penh named Techo International Airport (TIA). TIA (Phase 1) is a greenfield airport being developed in southern Phnom Penh about 19 kilometres from Phnom Penh City Centre, with a total investment budget of US$1.5 billion. TIA, to be developed in three phases, is designed for 50 million passengers, with three runways and a satellite terminal across a total land area of 2,600 hectares. In line with the opening of TIA, the joint venture will commence operations in March 2025.

This joint venture will complement SIAEC’s existing network of Line Maintenance International (LMI) stations. With SIAEC’s engineering capabilities and operations know-how from its LMI network, the joint venture is expected to develop into a regional aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul hub in TIA.

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: Mr. Sin Chanserivutha, Undersecretary of State and Spokesman for the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation, informed the media that the construction of the Techo International Airport (New Phnom Penh Thmey) project (Phase 1) is scheduled to be completed in 2024 and is scheduled to open next year. 2025, if nothing changes.

Mr. Sin Chanserivutha also said that as of June 30, 2023, the construction of Techo International Airport (New Phnom Penh) in the first phase has achieved more than 50%, with a total cost of 712 million dollars.

The Techo International Airport project has been licensed by the Royal Government to CAIC, a joint venture between the Royal Government of Cambodia and OCIC, to build and develop Techo International Airport (Phnom Penh Thmey) in Boeung Khyang area in Kandal and Takeo provinces in 2,600 hectares located 20 km south of Phnom Penh.
In June 2020, the Cambodian government issued a sub-decree to cut off 2,600 hectares of state land to provide for the construction of this new international airport, which covers four communes, including Boeung Khyang commune, Ampov Prey commune, Prek Sleng commune in Kandal Stung district. Kandal Province and Pot Sor Commune, Bati District, Takeo Province.

According to Mr. Sin Chanserivutha, Undersecretary of State and Spokesman of the Secretariat of Civil Aviation, after the first phase is completed, Techo International Airport will be able to receive large aircraft landings, (ie. Code F: A-340-300, A350-900 and B777-200 / 300ER, B747-300 / 400), with 32 ports to accommodate 13 million to 15 million passengers a year (2024), and can receive air cargo from 175,000 tons a year (2024).

I'll miss Pochentong Airport. It's always a breeze to get through, unlike most other international airports nowadays. It has an almost cozy atmosphere.

Indeed. Not many international airports that take you 20 mins from check-in to gate. Or about the same from disembarking to tuktuk

My record from last year was 8 minutes from exiting the plane to getting out of the arrivals terminal. I had no checked in luggage because it had already been lost on the way to Bangkok and had a multiple entry visa extension already.
