Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A young woman burst into tears mixed with fear after a group of thugs on motorbikes grabbed her backpack and stole her motorcycle at 8:30 pm on June 7, 2022, along Preah Monireth Street at the point of Stung Meanchey flyover in Sangkat Stung Meanchey I, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh.
The victim was a 21-year-old female law student living in a rented room around Phsar Dey Thmey in Sangkat Stung Meanchey 3, Khan Meanchey.

According to the victim, before the incident, she rode a motorcycle alone from school in Boeung Trabek, intending to return to a rented house in Phsar Dey Thmey, Meanchey district. But while crossing under the flyover bridge, a group of 5 to 6 suspects appeared on 3 motorbikes, and they robbed her of her backpack and her motorbike. The thieves drove off and escaped the scene, and even though she shouted for help, she could not follow, just stood there in tears.
The victim also stated that in her backpack were $ 200, 20,000 Khmer Riel, bank card, credit card, ID card, and some other study materials.

After the incident, the victim contacted friends and relatives to receive and file a complaint at the Stung Meanchey 1 Administrative Police Station for the authorities to help find and identify the thieves.

It should be noted that concerning the above incident, many people have already requested that the competent authorities strengthen security to prevent crimes from occurring around the Stung Meanchey flyover, because in the past thieves have often robbed people there and the area is known to be unsafe (particularly for women alone).

Investing into a law student might be a wise move indeed, although i'm confident it isn't an interested impulse.
