car prices

Has anyone bought a car here in Cambodia? If so is it true that there is a 100% tax on top of the market value of vehicle?

When cars are imported the duty, special tax and VAT add up to between 120 and 130% so that is reflected in the resale value of vehicles. Pick-ups have a slightly lower rate. Beware of suspiciously cheap cars - there are a lot of cut-and-shut merchants here

Cars are typically 2x the price when new and anywhere from 2-4x used compared to most western markets. Pick-ups a bit less as mentioned. It is what it is.
