If this port is for containers the increased truck traffic will be a nightmare.

That's what Phnom Penh river front will look like when they reclaim 100 m out into the Tonlie Sap and fill it with sand. Beach umbrellas, jet skies , sunbathing and swimming for those rich tourists that stay in the ten star hotels yet to be built. I'll put the sujestion to the man when I meet him next time, I'm sure it will be approved.

Sep 1, 2022

By: Chea Sihak / Phnom Penh: The Council for the Development of Cambodia confirmed on August 31, 2022 that a company has been granted the right to invest in small islands in Kep.

The same source said that the islands that will be developed are Koh Svay, Koh Mtes and Koh Kok, which are located in Kep Province.

The islands will be developed by SAMANEA CO., LTD, in a development investment project worth about $ 18.2 million, the source said.

Wikipedia:
Samanea is an Asian company with its headquarter in Singapore and its China headquarter in Foshan, Guangdong. The company develops and operates large scale business centres in the greater Asia region and provides ancillary facilities such as conference and exhibition centres, business hotels, office buildings and commercial flats as the core of the business centres.

[Note that this is a newly established company: Wikipedia says that the Singapore Head Office of Samanea Co. Ltd. opened in 2019, and the grand opening of the company HQ in China, opened earlier this year, in January 2022.]

So is Kep still worth visiting? Or has it gone the way of Sihanoukville? (i.e. best avoided)

Lol, Kep is empty as ever.

Maybe a few more tour buses and nicer roads but boring AF in my view.
