No contraception, no dole

I thought not!Soi Dog wrote:You brought up "mass sterilization" and supported the Nazi comparison. I replied to that. I didn't misquote you.EdinWigan wrote:I, for one think it is right to add a Nazi comparison.

Something need to be done but mass sterilization is not the answer, imho
Kuroneko brought up, in a very good post, large scale sterilization.
I merely pointed out that there was a 'World of Difference' between contraception and sterilization. As there is between selective quoting and misquoting.
General Chatter started a good thread, worthy of a good debate. Kuroneko then added a good point. That is how good debates are started and then grow into great debates.

Re: No contraception, no dole
There is a simple solution to the problem,,, fix the cause of the problem, and make jobs available so there is no need for anyone to apply for the dole.

There's plenty of jobs available in Australia, dole bludgers are generally either too lazy to work, or too picky about the kind of job they want.
Re: No contraception, no dole
Some people think they have a God-given right to both live in very remote areas AND are entitled to live a modern lifestyle with all the comforts and conveniences of those who live in developed areas that have access to jobs and services and health care (and the tax revenue to pay for such services). If someone wants to live on remote tribal lands just like all their ancestors then good for them. They can also live in straw hovels, shit in the open and eat iguanas or insect larvae like their ancestors did too.PSD-Kiwi wrote:There's plenty of jobs available in Australia, dole bludgers are generally either too lazy to work, or too picky about the kind of job they want.

Perhaps I should have said,, make jobs available close to where people live. Not everyone owns a car, has a driving licence, or can drive for that matter. Not everyone fits into a Sydney city lifestyle, and wears or owns a suit, and depending on your skin colour and accent you may never be at the top of the '' most preferred tenant list '' , which would make it impossible to get accommodation near to where jobs are.,,, Owing to the increasing use of drugs, mental illness and the resulting behaviour, is one of the growing problems in OZ, and there are many of those type of people who will be stuck on the unemployment forever. It's easy to stand back and call them ALL dole bludgers, and too lazy to work when we don't know the real circumstances behind each individuals persons problem.Duncan wrote:There is a simple solution to the problem,,, fix the cause of the problem, and make jobs available so there is no need for anyone to apply for the dole.

You are right, they do have a God-given right to live where they want to, The same as you. As for [ and the tax revenue to pay for such services ] I think people in remote areas also pay taxes and GST, and it is not up to them how much is spent and on what, but decided by those in power.[ People you and I vote for ]

Re: No contraception, no dole
The difference being, I don't feel that others must supply the money, food, and other services to anywhere I choose to live, regardless of how remote and undeveloped. I don't demand that taxpayers send me their hard-earned money to keep knocking out kids I can't (or won't) feed, clothe, shelter and educate.Duncan wrote:You are right, they do have a God-given right to live where they want to, The same as you.

Australia has a negative birthrate.
Lots of other countries have paid a baby bonus for this reason in the past.
when you see the vast waste that is Canberra, this kind of stuff pales into insignificance.

If it's a "vast waste", it's a vast waste with a median housing price of nearly $560,000. Seems like quite a few people desire to live there, and can afford to do so.frank lee bent wrote:when you see the vast waste that is Canberra, this kind of stuff pales into insignificance.
