British Virgin Islands Premier Arrested in Miami
British Virgin Islands Premier Arrested in Miami
British Virgin Islands premier arrested on cocaine charges in US sting operation
We all know what the BVI is all about with the money laundering, tax evading and dodgy shell companies, so it's not exactly a stretch to think that with all that cash and geographical proximity between Colombia and Florida, the temptation was too great to resist. Especially when you are head of the government. They also arrested the head of the Ports Authority and her son.
The UK already investigated rampant corruption on the Islands and the report was extremely damming. Basically it is run by a bunch a crooks from the top down.
Instead of getting too involved with direct control, with all the locals shouting and screaming about colonial oppressors etc, perhaps the UK should publicly and loudly consider taking down all their flags, walking away and putting them on a financial blacklist. Maybe invite the US to take control like Puerto Rico, see how they like that idea?

The premier of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) has been arrested in a sting operation in Miami on charges of conspiring to import cocaine into the United States and money laundering.
The BVI governor, John Rankin, confirmed in a statement that Andrew Fahie had been arrested on Thursday morning, saying: “I realise this will be shocking news for people in the territory. And I would call for calm at this time.”
