Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 8 April 2022, an traffic accident occurred in front of the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital on Street 271, Sangkat Tumnup Teuk, Khan Boeung Keng Kang, when a man driving a RX 330 Lexus while intoxicated hit a drink cart, causing extensive damage.

The drunk driver, who was in his 50s, was driving northwards at high speed when he suddenly oversteered and hit a drinks cart parked at the side of the road. The woman seller was slightly injured in the accident, and the drink cart was smashed up with drinks all over the road.

Despite causing the accident, the driver refused to stop the car and tried to drive away from the accident scene. Fortunately, some bystanders saw that the man was trying to escape, and they chased the car and its driver down.
The car was eventually stopped and the two sides negotiated. The parties tried to reach an agreement but failed. The drinks seller demanded USD 1,400, but the drunk driver was only willing to offer USD 800.

Due to the lack of agreement between the two parties, the police dragged the cart selling drinks and the damaged Lexus to be stored at the Phnom Penh Municipal Commission Land Traffic Police Office until a settlement is reached.
