Khmer Rock n Roll

Have questions or resources regarding Khmer Culture? This forum is all about the Kingdom of Cambodia's culture. Khmer language, Cambodian weddings, French influence, Cambodian architecture, Cambodian politics, Khmer customs, etc? This is the place. Living in Cambodia can cause you to experience a whole new level of culture shock, so feel free to talk about all things related to the Khmer people, and their traditions. And if you want something in Khmer script translated into English, you will probably find what you need.

Khmer Rock n Roll

Post by Apparition »

I'm learning Khmer at the moment, and I've just discovered the Cambodia Rocks album, while submersing myself in the language. I love it.

Are there any good cover bands for the 60's stuff around these days? Or any places where DJs play that kind of thing in PP?

I'm hoping it's not a thing that's been forgotten about in modern day Cambodia, because it's f**king excellent.

I think they're all into hip hop and rap these days.

Can't really do the Madison to rap.

Maybe this is why I'm losing all these street dance battles

The most cringe part of every wedding ceremony is the Western line dancing inspired Madison.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

There was Cambodia Space Project who used to do covers and also originals, but unfortunately Chanty died in a traffic accident in 2018.
