Policeman Arrested in 300K Job Corruption Scandal
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the afternoon of March 29, 2022, the criminal police arrested a 39-year-old law enforcement officer named Leng Sothivon for corruption. He is accused of accepting almost 300k from 28 people, promising them a secured career position as government workers. The suspect was from house #3, Street 123, village 1, Sangkat Boeung Trobek, Khan Chamkar Moan.
The arrest was made in accordance with the police report involving 28 people who were involved in the corruption scheme since late 2019. They claimed that the suspect boasted that he worked closely for a powerful person and could help them to obtain a legitimate career in the civil service within 6 months for "just" 18,000USD per person. The total amount of cash given to the suspect was 280,000USD.
The suspect has admitted to the corruption and is being held in custody for further proceedings.

Firstly, 28 x $18000 is $540,000 not $300,000.
Notwithstanding that little anomaly, did this guy actually get anyone a job? Or is it just an advance fee fraud with no hope of any jobs or indeed any hope of getting away with it on a long term basis.
