Police Officer Shoots Wife Dead with Handgun

Cambodia News, (Prey Veng Province): The serious criminal police of Prey Veng Provincial Police on March 26, 2022 arrested the Chief of Police 1 of the Prey Veng Provincial Prosecutor's Office on charges of murder. It is alleged that the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot his second wife four times on the road in front of Phat Sandong pagoda in Phat Sandong village, Prey Veng province. The woman died instantly from her wounds

According to the Sith Kandal district police report, the suspect was named Mao Sovanhong, a 53-year-old man, who was the chief of the first administrative police station. The victim, Sok Muy, a 51-year-old female, is a farmer. The couple were both living together in Phnov village, Phnov 1 commune, Sithor Kandal district, Prey Veng province.

The suspect is charged with murder under Article 119 of the Penal Code and faces up to 10 to 15 years in prison if convicted.
