Russia says 23 dead in missile attack on Donetsk
Fragments from Ukrainian missile that was shot down fall in rebel-held city centre, killing 20 civilians, Russia says.
The Ukrainian military has denied launching a missile attack on the separatist-controlled city of Donetsk, after the Russian defence ministry said that 23 civilians had been killed in a Ukrainian missile attack. Russia said that the Tochka-U missile had also wounded 28 people in the eastern Ukrainian city in what it described as a “war crime”.

Earlier on Monday, a local separatist leader had told Russia’s TASS news agency that a Tochka-U missile had been intercepted over the rebel stronghold, but that parts of it had landed in the city centre.

Denis Pushilin, the head of the so-called “Donetsk People’s Republic”, said residential areas were damaged.

“People were waiting in line near an ATM and were standing at a bus stop,” he told the Rossiya 24 network. “There are children among the dead,” Pushilin added.

Another oligarch has had his yacht taken away, this time by authorities in Spain.
The 85-metre (279ft) superyacht Valerie, worth an estimated £140m, was seized in Barcelona where it has been docked since February.

Would be a good time to be in the market for a Superyacht, must be some knockdown prices right now.

Cleaned up several posts that drifted too far from the topic.

Please stay on topic as it affects the Ukraine directly going forward and not get into side topics eg US politics, Syria & conspiracy theories. Thanks.

How is it possible for your assets to be seized by a foreign country when you have not committed any crime.

Haha It's like stealing from a thief 8)
Aren't Oligarchs considered to be part of the political system, influential in government decisions?
So a sanction on Russia is also a sanction on the Oligarchs!
Though we get to choose which Oligarchs :pirat:

Í'd expect plenty of lawsuits along those lines. The seizures are all as a result of sanctions levied against individuals. None of them were given the opportunity to refute the claims made against them.

That said, they made their money in a country where the legal system doesn't operate based on the rule of law. So I understand why sanctions would be levied against them. The hope is that these people are powerful enough to influence Putin's thinking and help to persuade him to end the war.

She's got guts. I hope she had a train ticket to Helsinki and was able to get out before being arrested. She'll be in jail for a long time.
