Well, yes, I suppose I discarded the humble Indian Samosas, although I don't class them has a pie, but they are that of no doubt a pastie. But I don't like the savory curry pies that taste harshly of curry powder.

A pie has a ‘filling’, not a ‘topping’

Funny I saw the pie comment and thought who the hell calls a pizza a pie. It seems its an "Americanism" :D Pizza Pie Is A Uniquely American Phenomenon.

Why Pizza is Called Pie – The Story of American Tomato Pie

Americans refer to pizza as “pie” because early 20th century Italian immigrants to the United States made and sold a pizza called a “pomidore pizza”. This unknown Italian food was translated to “tomato pie” in English due to being round and cut into slices. As one of the first kinds of pizza sold in the US, the name “pie” stuck and began to be used to refer to all types of pizza. Today, many New Yorkers still refer to pizza as “pie”.

So, the etymology of “pizza pie” is really a history lesson about pizza in the United States. Let’s talk about the first pizza to be brought to the US, the true origins of the “tomato pie” and whether or not pizza is even a pie in the first place.................. https://www.myhouseofpizza.com/why-pizza-is-called-pie/

A pizza folded in half, the Calzone, does makes it a pasty, not a pie.

Best pies I've had in Cambodia have been from Jungle Burger in Siem Reap. The pulled pork, cheese and bacon is banging.

In PP, JD's pies are pretty tasty also and only $3.50. Strokesy's butchers in TTP usually has some frozen in stock along with his quality meats. Plenty of variety but best to message and see what he has before

No, No, No. One thing I have never liked is curry flavour pies and pasties.
Legitimate question here, are samosas a species of ‘curry pastie’?
I think yes* - good call.

Lamb Samosas are excellent from Sher E Punjab on street 130.

*Technically a pasty is a circle of pastry with a filling and then folded and crimped into a semi circle. A samosa is made with half a circle of pastry, made into a cone, filled and then pinched close.
Specifically a pasty crimped along the side is a Cornish Pasty if filled with the correct ingredients, however a Devon Pasty is crimped along the top.

Pasties are one of the most ancient methods of cooking and of carrying cooked food.
One end of the pasty would usually contain a sweet filling which the wives would mark or initial so the miner would not eat his dessert first, while the other end would contain meat and vegetables.
