Reference and addressing - third person & relation
Possible a unique still observed way of talk, addressing oneself and others in third person, while steady considering the individual relation, which has globally faded with marxist impact.
In any way, maybe for some of yours not only access to the Khema (peaceful0 cultur but also a finding possible usefull to adopt, even readopt in one's own language and speech.
The use of third person is actually an old way to increase wisdom and detachment (Jain, Samana, practice even before the Budfhas area), today better known as: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illeism .
It also requires careful attention to never lose the context and situation of a talk.
Two main aspects, aside of always trying to lift others as much as possible and proper, are always considered:
* Indirect adressing in speech
* relation toward speak partner but also listener
In regard of relation 3 measures are considered and brought wisely to a product:
- relation (blood)
- age - "status"
- authority status/virtue status
As it's use is rapidly fading this days - in cities even possible already unknown at large (usually using "older Sibling" all around) - maybe also an occasion and space for improve.

I think this explains the OP's use of the term 'good householder' in some posts when addressing or replying to members..The use of third person is actually an old way to increase wisdom and detachment (Jain, Samana, practice even before the Budfhas area), today better known as: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illeism .

Khema cultur ... is that some new yoghurt they're making over there, or are they refering to the next gen of expats who can't survive without aircon & pain au chocolate?
I bet they also pronounce it "Khy-merr".

The Moderator gets the general point made in this topic, evident from the topic title and reading the associated link. Clutch Cargo can't argue with that..

Freightdog thinks* this may already have been through whatever the Cambodian gubbinsment use as official translation from khemer into Ingli.
Pass it through giggly translate and back, and see what happens.
*despite all evidence to the contrary
