More than 20 Chinese Arrested for Sex Trafficking in St 51/172 Raid
March 6, 2022
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Phnom Penh Municipal Gendarmerie, in cooperation with the Daun Penh District Gendarmerie, launched a raid along Street 172 on the corner of Street 51 in Sangkat Phsar Thmei 3, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.
The crackdown took place at 9:10 pm on March 5, 2022, at a hotel marked with Chinese neon characters that translate as Fragrant Bay or Fragrant Gulf.
According to a source from the Phnom Penh Military Police, the hotel was a suspected brothel and the raid was carried out in connection with crimes involving sex work, but during the search, the specialized forces also found some drugs and equipment being used by suspects at the hotel.
During the three-hour operation, police detained a total of more than 20 Chinese men and women and confiscated a large number of exhibits related to sex and drug trafficking. The suspects were sent by truck to the Phnom Penh Gendarmerie Headquarters for questioning and legal action.

The authorities would do well to raid all chinese owned clubs in PP, they're all just fronts for nefarious purposes.

I believe "fragrant bay" translates as Hong Kong.

There was a big thing made at one time about the name of the business and how it should be in the Khmer language also. But the Chinese flaunt the simple law's of the country.Clutch Cargo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 8:39 amI thought there was some law that the name of the establishment must have khmer characters at least the same size or bigger above? There are loads of businesses with foreign signs. Burger King for example doesn't have a Khmer sign. It's not illegal - it just means you have to pay a much higher sign tax.AndyKK wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 1:10 pmThere was a big thing made at one time about the name of the business and how it should be in the Khmer language also.
