Cambodia News, (Takeo Province): An outrageous incident occurred when a suspect dared to steal and kill wildlife in Phnom Ta Mao Zoo located in Bati district, Takeo province, but the suspect has now been arrested.

Bati District Police said that on January 31, 2022 at 17:00 pm, an unidentified suspect killed a male deer, amputating its head and three legs. After receiving the complaint, the specialized forces of the Bati District Police Inspectorate were sent to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.

Then, on February 26, 2022, at 11:30am, the specialized force arrested a suspect named Them Ravi, male, 33 years old, occupation uncertain, in Tbeng village, Bati district, Takeo province, and took him for questioning.

Police said, "The suspect confessed that he jumped the fence to steal and kill the deer. He took two thighs, one leg, and cut off the head to take the antlers to sell to Nhim Youheng, alias Chak, male, 49 years old, in Tbeng village, Kraing Thnong commune Bati district, Takeo province. He told the buyer that he had trapped the deer in the forest, and he sold the meat for 30,000 riel a kilo, and the antlers for $ 100".

The authorities confiscated the deer antlers from Nhim Youheng and handed them over to the director of Phnom Ta Mao Zoo.
