Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News (Kandal Province): On January 25, 2022, in Prek Tanob 2 village, Kampong Svay commune, Kien Svay district, Kandal province, a 28-year-old man, Chhorn Bunnak, threatened to kill his 46-year-old brother-in-law, Dam Chea, concerning some confusion between a mislaid loan of 200,000 riels and five packets of instant noodles.

Before this incident, the victim was sleeping in his room when the suspect kicked in his door and went to attack him, but the victim managed to escape to his car and drove to a neighbor's house calling for help from the authorities.
However, on January 25, at 8:20 pm, the suspect returned, approaching the victim with a long knife, yelling out menaces once again. This time, the victim filed a police report and got the suspect called in for questioning at the Kompong Svay police station.

After interrogation, the suspect explained that on January 21, he arranged to borrow 200,000 riels from his construction worker boss, but that somehow the boss had sent the money to his brother-in-law. Then during the first incident of violence, he was drunk, angry, and confused when he approached his brother-in-law to get the money. In fact, he was so drunk that he didn't remember exactly what he said, but he was handed 5 packages of instant noodles, which made him even more angry when he recovered consciousness and found the noodles instead of the money.
In the second incident, the suspect was drunk again and went armed with a knife to claim the money back from the victim, but this time there were no noodles and the victim called the police.
The suspect and the evidence were held in custody temporarily for further proceedings.
