Convert visa

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Still not an official policy, not all agents can do it, those who have a good relationship with their contacts in the DoI can...not cheap, it is purely a money making scheme for the DoI.

The DoI need to either make it an official policy, or just say "no conversions" and reinstate VOA's...keep it simple.

Out of curiosity, when they do such a conversion, do they need to put two new stickers in your passport (an ordinary visa plus an extension of stay) or directly just the EoS? And somewhat related, how many free pages do they require nowadays to apply for an EoS?

They are just putting the EOS sticker straight in, so only 1 page, but you need to have a minimum of 2 blank pages anyway when applying.

The DoI have now made it official that T-type (Tourist) Visas and e-Visas (electronic online Tourist Visa) can legally be converted to an E-type EOS...which means that there should be a standard conversion fee across the board when using an agency.

Whether this is a temporary or permanent move is not yet known, however I suspect it is just gonna be temporary until the issuing of VOA's is reinstated.

$200? I doubt that’s for a 12 month EOS more likely 3 or 6. $500+ is what they quote.

200 for the conversion. 285 for the extension.

Not too bad. In 2011 the DoI tried to charge me 350$ for a conversion from NGO visa to Ordinary visa. I decided to spend the money on a few nights in Bangkok. When I came back from Bangkok I noticed my NGO visa had not yet expired. Luckily the guys at the airport didn't notice when I applied for a new visa and I got my new visa without the conversion fee.
