Cow brain at a "sach kor" barbeque place on st.360/West of Monivong, about ten years back. Very creamy, yet dull - had to liven it up with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

Was very intoxicated and ate some food a Khmer friend had, said it was rat. Not sure if it really was or taking the piss but it tasted gamey and didn't have more than one bite.

Thailand ate cockroach. Tasted like charcoal since it was cooked that way. Was also drinking heavily this time.

I should decrease my drinking.

I'm pretty sure those are a type of waterbug, not cockroaches.

Anyway, I never tried those but the fried grasshoppers were OK. The fried silkworms however did not appeal to me.

Deep-fried bees or bogan moths.
Undecided.

It’s a strange thing, rather than crazy.

The part that they call the pillow, ខ្នើយ, Khnaey, has all the taste and texture of a pencil eraser.

I tried it once in Battambang. It felt like I was finding bits of that eraser in my teeth for the whole day.

Interesting, I wouldn't know besides the person that gave me one telling me but they may not have known the proper word in English so just went with cockroach.

I was drinking with some Khmer guys just out of Siem Reap about ten years ago and a guy on a bicycle came along and he was selling something. Well they were uncooked big bugs so I thought to myself why not, and I did and they were tasty

Over the years I have learned to like a lot of foods my wonderful Cambodian relatives eat, stuffed frog, fertilized duck eggs, insect grubs, all kinds of strange river things, even durian (if it's fresh), but by far the strangest food I have ever eaten in Cambodia is "pizza" from The Pizza Company.
I wish I knew a whole lot more, or a whole lot less.
