Cambodia News, (Kampot Province): A gang of 12 thieves working throughout Cambodia, led by an old woman known as Yeay Phin, were captured at 12:30am on January 19, 2022, by the police forces of Kampot Provincial Criminal Police in cooperation with the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Interior, and the Kampong Thom Provincial Police.

The gang were notorious for burglaries, scamming, and all sorts of thieving from markets and money transfer shops in Phnom Penh and throughout the provinces, leaving many traders ruined and in tears, because of the great loss of gold, jewellery and hundreds of thousands of dollars, all said to be the work of the famous female criminal mastermind, Sok Sovanny, also called Phin or Yeay Phin.
Now Granny Phin and the 11 other friends in her gang have all been arrested and are behind bars.

The 12 suspects are:
1. Sok Sovanny, alias Chhum Phin, alias Kao Vanny, female, 55 years old, resides in Veng Village, Sangkat Pun Saing, Khan Prek Pnov, Phnom Penh. ( Sought by police, she had an outstanding arrest warrant.)
2. Koeun Chakrya, an 18-year-old female, lives around Wat Phnom in Srah Chak commune, Daun Penh district, Phnom Penh.
3. Un Yano, male, 39 years old, in Village 2, Sangkat Chroy Changva, Khan Chroy Changva, Phnom Penh.
4. Srey Sam Oeun, alias Ping, a 53-year-old man from Village 23, Sangkat Boeung Ngak 2, Khan Toul Kork, Phnom Penh.
5. Name: Yuan Va, male, 61 years old, in Thmey Leu village, Pratheat commune, Oreang Ov district, Tbong Khmum province.
6. Ty Chhong, a 45-year-old man living around Wat Phnom in Srah Chak commune, Daun Penh district, Phnom Penh.
7. Va Vichet, male, 43 years old, in Thmey Leu village, Pratheat commune, Oreang Ov district, Tbong Khmum province.
8. Chanda, Female, 42 years old, Village 23, Sangkat Boeung Kak II, Khan Toul Kork, Phnom Penh.
9. Hong Lam, a 28-year-old Vietnamese woman from Veng Village, Sangkat Ponhea Pon, Khan Prek Pnov, Phnom Penh.
10. Sok Chan Ven, male, 37 years old, in Village 6, Sangkat Phsar Thmei 1, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.
11. Sok Ra, a 37-year-old man from Veng village, Sangkat Ponhea Pon, Khan Prek Pnov, Phnom Penh.
12. Det Pha, a 32-year-old man from Thmey Leu village, Pratheat commune, Oreang Ov district, Tbong Khmum province.

The role of all the suspects will be investigated before they are charged and sent before the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.
