Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): According to the locals, on 16 December 2021, internet gambling sites, football betting and many other types of gambling activities are running smoothly in Sen Sok district. Eager to more gambling addicts to come and play in those places in large numbers, no police in Sen Sok district were seen to be conducting investigations and crack down operations on those gambling dens.

Residents revealed to "KBN" that there is one large gambling site located on Ong Ta Ming Concrete Road, Trung Moan Village, O Bek Kam, Sen Sok, Phnom Penh. Gambling addicts are seen entering that location to play football and other games every day, but Ms. Phally, Chief of O Bek Kam Commune and the Inspector of Sen Sok District were not seen to have visited the site to crack down on the gambling place. No doubt, the owner of this gambling den has strong connections.

Residents said that because Ms. Phally, Chief of O Bek Kam Commune and the Sen Sok District Inspector refused to crack down on such gambling activities under their jurisdiction, theft and robbery crimes have become the norm, causing innocent people to feel unsafe and to suffer physical violence in the neighborhood.

Residents stated that they were waiting to see if the Governor of Sen Sok District will take action against this gambling den since Ms. Neang Phally, Chief of O Bek Kam Commune and the Sen Sok District Inspector refused to go to do anything regarding the gambling den.
"KBN" has not yet asked for an explanation from the owner of the above location and the relevant authorities. However, they are always waiting to welcome feedback from experts.

UPDATE on Sen Sok Gambling Dens
Image
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh), 18 January 2022: According to reports by local people to journalists, there is a gambling place in front of the Total Gas Station, an internet cafe notorious for online gambling and online betting, which is about 200 meters south of the IU (AU) stop along Street 1011, Sangkat Phnom Penh Thmey in Sen Sok.

"KBN" agency and journalists from other news agencies then visited the location above to investigate and publish information concerning this local gambling den in the hope that authorities will crackdown on such businesses because it is public knowledge that gambling sites attract thieves and crime to the neighborhood. Residents have revealed that the internet cafe above is always filled with people openly gambling, who do not fear a visit from police, while the neighbors are too afraid to openly complain.

When reporters arrived at the site, they found that the internet cafe was operating at full speed with many addicted gamblers crowding in to bet online. Journalists took pictures of them gambling in broad daylight when suddenly, the owner of the gambling venue and several others came out to stop the journalists and threatened to kill them. Finally, with no choice and for their own safety, the journalists were forced to delete most of the images they captured at the scene. Despite this, they were able to retain some pictures of the activities taking place.

Residents strongly urge Mr. Mov Manit, Governor of Sen Sok District and Mr. Hour Meng Wang, Police Inspector of Sen Sok District to crackdown on such gambling sites in accordance with the regulations in force and work to maintain safety in the village community.

It's more likely that the "journalists" extorted the owners for a sum of money in exchange for deleting the incriminating pictures IMO
