Clinic Scandal of Unlicensed Chinese Doctors and Counterfeit Medicines Revealed
Cambodia News Phnom Penh: On 13 January 2022, the Anti-Counterfeit Products Committee issued a press release on the crackdown on the location of Phkar Rumduol Beauty Center by authorities who inspected and found that foreign national doctors from China working in the Phkar Rumduol Beauty Center were not licensed by the Ministry of Health.
Furthermore, it was uncovered that the Beauty Center imported and used counterfeit medicine and medical equipment without due registrations. It was said that the doctors and technicians intentionally caused injuries to many victims. The crackdown was done under the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, which ordered a raid on the beauty center.

Phkar Romduol is located in One Park Building # B01, Street 08, Sangkat Srah Chak, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh, and was investigated after authorities received many complaints from victims of the fraudulent cosmetic clinic.
After inspecting and searching, the Joint Inspection Team found:
1. Foreign doctors working at Phkar Rumduol Beauty Center were not recognized by the Ministry of Health;
2. Doctors and technicians intentionally caused injuries to many victims in violation of the precautions required by law;
3-Importing and storing counterfeit medicinal products and medical equipment without due registrations from Ministry of Health
4-Storage and use of substandard (expired or counterfeit) drugs .

The prosecutor decided to close down the business temporarily and to build a case against the 4 Chinese doctors who will appear before the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for further proceedings. For other people involved, the authorities will continue the search to find them, arrest them, and punish them according to the law.
This event marks the second crackdown by the Anti-Counterfeit Products Committee on the location of a major beauty center in Phnom Penh.
