Sidney Poitier, first black man to win Oscar, has died aged 94 aged

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Nice work Mr Poitier :hattip:
And still the best Shaft film as far as I am concerned. The story was a little weak but Roundtree was born for that role. Cool music too.
Who's the black private dick
That's a sex machine to all the chicks? (Shaft)
You're damn right!

It is good to recognise his death, but we seem to have forgotten Betty White, whom died about a week ago aged 99. She was a true icon, acting up to her last days. And acting in a modern sense, not like an elderly person (she would often use fuck and other curse words). She was real. She will be missed.

The Oscars has continued in this vein. Heath Ledger and Peter Finch were possibly deserved too, but, again, there were no bets available, for the post-humous awards.
But Betty White is, er, white?
There’s bucket loads of white icons who were acting around the time of Poitier. The difference with him was he was A list and black. White was just a two bit actress who happened to be old and still around.
I was referring to the fact she was still contributing, and I went into the coloured thing, after that, which you have conveniently deleted. Not your best work.
Not really the point of Hanno’s post though, is it, which you seem to have missed.

Everyone is aware of old actors still contributing but Poitier was a groundbreaker and a brilliant actor, unlike many of his contemporaries like White and that other black actor I’ve never heard of. No one has “forgotten” about them. Speak for yourself.

You’re pointing out the bleeding obvious and distracting from the flavour of the OP.
Enough already.
[Mod edit: no need for name calling] If I am pointing out the obvious, then how is it you haven't even heard of the acual "ground-breaker" in the industry. Just because you are [Mod edit], there is no need to disparage someone in the know.

And I was actually adding the the OP's content, and opined, which is what you can do in a forum. I also mentioned it is good to recognise his passing, and his achievements should be remembered.

By deleting the important part of my post, you have intentionally distracted from my "flavour."

Who are you to say "enough already," after a weak rebuttal, so I can not defend your accusation.

Regardless of what you intended, the overall tone of your post did come across like you felt that reporting on the the passing of Sidney Poitier was some sort of callous snub against Betty White.
