Cambodia News (Kandal Province): At 22:50 pm on December 31, 2021, in front of the Man Pisey gas station in Plov Trey village, Kandal, a police officer and a civilian were arrested for an incident of reckless shooting that endangered the public during New Year's Eve. The suspects were identified as a 26-year-old police officer, Phan Huyhak, from Khan Sen Sok, and a 32-year-old man, Mao Chiven, a businessman from Khan Toul Kork.

According to an eyewitness at the gas station, the suspects were driving a Lexus RX400h (PNH 2AB 5368) with 2 teenage passengers, coming from a New Year's Eve celebration, when the driver, Phan Huyhak, pulled out a handgun and shot 2 times into the sky.

The police were alerted and stopped the suspects' car after they attempted to escape. After a quick interrogation, the suspects admitted to the reckless shooting, and claimed that the handgun was bought from an anonymous person.
The suspects were put in custody for further investigation.
