Dirty Old Sailors

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Less room to wiggle when it has an official character.
Whereas before high tea was served and wrists were slapped, this time the climate has changed.
I always thought business' like this would have a clear payment plan to stop these raids and arrests. At the very least you'd get a private visit and told the deal is off and to close quickly.

What's the betting it will be open again within a month?
An agreement is only good for so long. As John mentioned, they were raided earlier last year if I recall (beginning of COVID?). Someone higher up probably heard about it, realized they weren't getting a cut... Raid. Negotiate again, but it's only a matter of time before yet another outside entity gets involved, and then your local coppers who were all buddy-buddy with you will be throwing you under the bus once the heat gets too hot. Not sure why someone would risk a business like that TBH, but I guess probably profits were high.

It will be interesting to how Thailand's medical M regime unfolds. Specifically, if there is any 'leakage' to over here.
There is definitely a market for relatively expensive M-products (for SEA) that are guaranteed to be high quality, well handled and crucially - safe to smoke. ie, are not contaminated by pesticides and fungicides.
This has become a huge problem in Kh. Particularly fungicides. This time of year is notorious.

NB, in the interests of harm minimisation only.
Make sure anything you buy has no sour or chemical smell.
This may just indicate mould, not healthy or pleasant in itself - but it is often fungicides, used to combat the mould problem during the monsoon season here.
For a start. Any good pot in the region was harvested over six months ago, before the rain. It would have needed to be dried, handled and stored extremely diligently for it to be any good by now.
That used to happen back in the innocent 'good old days' - but now they often just spray/splash some chemicals instead.

The right kind of Piracy, like these guys ^^, can be a very healthy wholesome innocent thing. I've always said that.

Legit pirates? or just dirty old sailors with an office in Vattanak Towers?

Mekong Gold
As the largest licensed cannabis cultivator and grower in Cambodia, Mekong Gold fully complies with all domestic tax and fee requirements together with meeting strict water quality protection provisions, hazardous material requirements, all Ministry of Environment provisions and land management regulations just to name a few.

With thousands of hectares of hemp production under ownership in Cambodia, we support the villages in which our farms are located.

Our nursery facility sets the standard for the cannabis industry. Our greenhouse is powered by sunlight to provide optimal and natural growing conditions. A hi-tech biometric security system controls access to all areas of the building. Every square foot of the facility and piece of equipment is meticulously cleaned, sanitized and documented by trained personnel.
