Minister of Interior Says Prisoners are Not Allowed Mobile Phones in Cells
The authorities are getting tough.
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the morning of 28 December 2021, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Sar Kheng, instructed the General Department of Prisons and all prison authorities not to allow prisoners to use mobile phones in their cells as there may be problems eventually. The DPM also reminded that in the past, in some prisons it has been difficult to control issues such as illegal smuggling of food, fruits and other things, including phones.
The DPM added that the General Department of Prisons must intervene and not allow the use of mobile phones in prison cells, but only allow the use of mobile phones elsewhere under strict supervision, where communications are monitored and recorded to ensure safety in the future.
He further stressed the importance of prison officials surveying the visiting families of prisoners very carefully, and added that prisons must find a balance between the right of prisoners to communicate with their families, and the need of strict supervision and constant recording for safety purposes.

Yeah, good luck with that mate, unless they have a jammer operating that would mess up internal staff communications anyway.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I would be very concerned about the illegal food and fruit getting into the prison .
