Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 20 December 2021, the body of a man who had gone missing after attending to repair works of a sand barge machine with his colleagues was found by the river bank of Koh Nora River, Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh. The man went missing after the boat in which he and his colleagues went out to the barge was swamped by a big wave causing the boat to sink. Two of his colleagues escaped unharmed, while the man's body was missing for 4 days.

The victim was 24 year old Ton Ly, a mechanic, who resides in Russey Keo, Phnom Penh. According to the victim's mother, the victim left behind his wife and 6-year-old daughter on 17 December 2021 to go to work repairing a sand barge with two other men. When they arrived at the sand barge, the men turned off the engines of their boat and commenced repairs to the engine of the barge, but then unexpectedly, a large wave hit the barge resulting in it sinking.
The victim disappeared, and the other two men who escaped on to the sand barge dived into the river to search for the victim, but they couldn't find him until the morning of 20 December 2021 when the villagers found his body and lifted it out of the river. The body has since been sent to Tuol Sangke Pagoda for funerary rites. RIP.
