I lived in Queens for 3 years. Only saw 3 fights in 3 years. I was a participant in #3. Panhandling punks in the East Village. This was 20 years ago.

I used to love the east village!! It's now gentrified but some cool spots to go to.
Avenue A and Avenue B had some cool spots to go to. Then Avenue C

Honestly, Brooklyn has become the new East Village

What makes you think this was an anti-Asian attack?

And the law of probability.
In the video of this incident, I see a lone woman on the train platform apparently at 4am, grabbed from behind, dragged, assaulted, her handbag taken and then he runs away.

From what I can see, there's no evidence that suggests she was targeted because she's Asian.

That's true, it could just be a crime of opportunity. Can't be certain in this case until they find the suspect - but he did rob her as well so a definite possibility it was not provoked by anything other than the guy looking to rob somebody. Yes, Anti-Asian crimes have increased and they need to be more mindful of that, but we can't say with certainty that is what happened here.
