I lived in Queens for 3 years. Only saw 3 fights in 3 years. I was a participant in #3. Panhandling punks in the East Village. This was 20 years ago.

Because of entitled people who think it's ok for them to jump over the system / regulation / law, as a start ?
Do attackers show their ID pass ? Do they even buy a ticket ?
And where are these guys when you need them ?

you have to purchase a metrocard and you swipe it to go thru
Manhattan keeps on making it, Brooklyn keeps on taking it

I used to love the east village!! It's now gentrified but some cool spots to go to.Big Daikon wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 7:21 pm I lived in Queens for 3 years. Only saw 3 fights in 3 years. I was a participant in #3. Panhandling punks in the East Village. This was 20 years ago.
Avenue A and Avenue B had some cool spots to go to. Then Avenue C
Honestly, Brooklyn has become the new East Village

I still visit W'burg occasionally. Kinda over NYC, really. I skipped it the last 2 times I went back.BklynBoy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 7:43 pmI used to love the east village!! What makes you think this was an anti-Asian attack?

And the law of probability.

In the video of this incident, I see a lone woman on the train platform apparently at 4am, grabbed from behind, dragged, assaulted, her handbag taken and then he runs away.IraHayes wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 8:17 pmhttps://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-amer ... r-rcna8427
And the law of probability.
From what I can see, there's no evidence that suggests she was targeted because she's Asian.
Re: Thai model visciously attacked by usual suspect in NYC
That's true, it could just be a crime of opportunity. Can't be certain in this case until they find the suspect - but he did rob her as well so a definite possibility it was not provoked by anything other than the guy looking to rob somebody. Yes, Anti-Asian crimes have increased and they need to be more mindful of that, but we can't say with certainty that is what happened here.
