Khmer >> skrt. Khemara >> pi. Khema (Person or land at peace, secure, an epic for Noble Ones, Arahat) Khemara-piasa: Peacefull and secure language, good householder.
Using the word Khema in this context is very uncommon and confusing, IMHO. When referring to Cambodian language in English the consensus is to use the word 'Khmer [language]'.

Yes, I agree. It just comes across as confusing and pretentious.

This has potential indeed as a double entendre.

I don't think he meant that Khema === Khmer. Khema is a title which means someone who is insightful, responsible and well grounded.
The title comes from ancient Khmer traditions, Khema being the name of one of the most significant female figures in all Buddhism. Khema was said to be a queen and a woman of unsurpassable beauty. To this day, the name is associated with someone who is insightful, responsible and well grounded.
So "Khema proverbs on speech" could be the type of proverbs... maybe

That would be even more confusing since 'Khema' don't use special proverbs just reserved for them.

lol... that would be odd. My interpretation was proverbs to be "insightful, responsible and well grounded".

Thats already a good perspective, good householder.
Khmer comes form the Sanskrit word ksema, Khemera, Pali: khema (meaning land or person in peace, synonym for an Arahat) So the meaning of the topic is thought as "To peace leading proverbs". The language used here is called Khemara-peasa, meaning not only "language of the Khmer", but "peaceful speechk or the "speech of those at peace". That turns then maybe back to the first post(s).
