Road Surveyor Killed by Bolt of Lightning

Cambodia News(Phnom Penh) On 22 November 2021, a road surveyor was killed by lightning while riding a motorbike from a shelter at 4:40 pm Vattanac Company Road Construction Site, Prek Thmey Village, Prek Thmey Commune,Chbar Ampov District .

According to local police, the victim was a 19 years old male by the name of Sen Reach, who lives in a rented house in Borey 100 village, Teuk Thla Commune, Sen Sok District, Phnom Penh.

According to security guard at a road construction site, Pech Phalkun, the incident happened when Sen Reach was riding his motorcycle in the rain. Sen Reach stopped to talk to the security guard who was sheltering from the rain under the guard tent at the scene of the lightning strike when a lightning bolt suddenly stuck Sen Reach and he fell off the motorcycle on to the ground. Immediately, the workers came to rescue him but he was already dead.

A forensic doctor in Phnom PenhMr. Oknha Nong Sovannaroth confirmed post autopsy that the victim died due to a lightning strike. At present, the body has been handed over to the family for funerary rites.
