How to be a greener consumer in Cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Aluminum cans are fine, but I dislike the metallic feeling. Whatever I drink, it has to be poured into a glass first, be it a bottle or a can. Can't remember the last time I used a straw as well... Some tissue to wipe the rim of any glass, then it's a go.

Personally, I like how glass bottles look. Any glass bottle. And I don't throw them away. Have a decent sized collection at home.

I'm not crazy about sending stuff for recycling, however, I reused everything. Plastic bags, broken umbrellas, broken gear, bottles, plastic containers, old wires, old belts, handbags, ice cream sticks, empty pens... :) I could be mistaken for a hoarder... but it's a personal thing. Sometimes, just even an art project. And they do come in useful when doing some diy projects and fixing stuff... a recent fix was using my old leather belt and old shoes to dampen the noise from the bases of all my tables and chairs.

Regarding beer tastes, I find myself craving a hazelnut stout often. And when I'm out of the country, I miss the taste of Angkor over ice. Would buy a crate back home, but the taxes are crazy.

Glass.
Easily recycled back into the system, collector makes a buck, tastes better than anything.

How is the anti-single use plastic bag "intention" going? And the latest anti-litter campaign?
'See any results on the streets?
