Legal Costs of Starting a Business in PP?
Legal Costs of Starting a Business in PP?
How much are the legal costs of starting a business in Phnom Penh? If I were to open a restaurant, what do need to do or pay to open the doors legally as a sole proprietorship? (permits, licensing, legal (lawyer or notary) Do you think it can be done for less than $1,000?

Re: Legal Costs of Starting a Business in PP?
it is around $250 for a "tourist license" to sell food and beer iirc.
there is also a small tax for your signage- which the beer distributor will provide in corporate livery if you wish.
it is maybe $50.
i think that is all- maybe you are supposed to register with the sangkat too.
for sure- whatever you need, a guy will come around to let you know.
get a receipt.

Years back I opened a restaurant/bar in Kampong Cham
Only official costs were R10,000 for the sign tax, and a case of beers for the local police, who actually didn't seem very eager to accept it.
Maybe because my neighbour/friend was the deputy chief of police, I don't know.
But it's very cheap to do.
You may also need a work permit now.
