8 Shops Burn Down in Market Fire

Cambodia News (Kompong Thom Province): At 2:35 am on November 14, 2021, eight shops selling spare parts and electronics in the Kompong Thmor market in Kampong Thom were engulfed by a fire, which was allegedly caused by faulty electric wiring.
Fortunately, nobody was injured and the fire was put out by the firefighters successfully.

Why do the Fire Engines have "Police" written on them?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Cambodia only has a few fire departments in the whole country and generally it's the police department operating these vehicles.

Sounds plausible that it much of the fire fighting comes under the purview of the police department (for Cambodia), but it doesn't exactly answer why the word FIRE is not part of its decals. An "ambulance" always has that word on them, regardless who operates them.

The fire department is part of the national police here. I agree it looks sort of strange having POLICE on the side of a fire truck though?

The cynic might think that the police chief might want everyone to know that the big shiny red truck with flashing lights is under his control.
As the writing isn’t in Khmer, then from a traffic awareness point of view it’s rather out of place. In addition to not being mirror view. Not that any of the super important denizens actually give a hoot that there’s an ambulance stuck in traffic behind them, let alone a shiny red police truck with water decanters.
