Adopted Orphan Rescued from Household Abuse
Cambodia News, (Battambang): A case of aggravated intentional violence against a female minor was prepared by the officials of the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Office of Battambang, who investigated the case after receiving a series of complaints from local people.
The adoptive mother, 57-year-old Ung Sokun Thi, was arrested on November 13, 2021 on charges of intentional domestic violence which occurred at Group 12, Wat Kor Village, Wat Kor Sangkat, Battambang City, especially during the end of 2020.
The victim was an 8-year-old girl, Em Chanthy Liza, while the alleged perpetrator of the violence was her foster mother, who lived in the same house. The father was often absent because he was working in another district.
According to Toch Sokha, 54, a neighbor, he said that often during 2020 he heard the voice of the girl child named Em Chanthy Lisa, also known as Nith, crying in the house next door because she was beaten by her foster mother. He had told the father about the violence, but most of the time the father was away working.
The child victim said she was often beaten by her adoptive mother with a bamboo branch, a wooden stick or a plastic plate, causing her to suffer injuries to the head, cheeks, and back as well.
The victim, Em Chanthy Liza, was originally adopted by her father from an orphanage in Battambang province in 2016, when she was only 3 years old.
Now, after taking the adoptive mother to court, law enforcement officers from the Office of Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection have handed over the girl to the Department of Social Affairs to provide appropriate accommodation, freedom and education, just like other children.

Re: Adopted Orphan Rescued from Household Abuse
There are never any winners in these cases. Of course it's right that she is removed from abusive parents, but that still leaves her as an orphan with an uncertain, and in her eyes, frightening future. Many kids come to accept their abuse as normal, as it's the only reality that've ever known, and sometimes no amount of reassurance that they will be in a better place is enough to justify, in their eyes, being separated from their parents, who they still bizarrely love very much, and facing a life alone.
She will no doubt be placed in an orphanage, hopefully one of the better ones, but it's no guarantee, and she will learn rejection at an age far too young to have to deal with that sort of thing. Every day her friends might be picked for foster care of adoption and she will wonder what's wrong with her and why she doesn't get picked.
What an awful way to start life. Heartbreaking really.
Poor girl.

The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

Not to mention an 8 year old is not the first choice for most adoptive parents that seriously want to raise a child. Rather for those looking to score free help around the house.xandreu wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 1:12 am There are never any winners in these cases. I wish the best for her but would not want to be in her shoes that's for sure
