Cambodia News (Banteay Mean Chey Province): The Anti-Drug Police of Banteay Mean Chey and Siem Reap cracked down on drug trafficking at three different locations in the region and seized over 25kgs of methamphetamine. The drugs are suspected to have been imported from Thailand.
The first raid took place in Reaksmey Samaky village, Sangkat Nimeth, Poipet city, Banteay Mean Chey province between kilometer 9 and 10, on October 22. The second location was in Borey Angkor, Kork Tnoat village, Kandaet commune, Prasat Bakong district, Siem Reap province, on October 23, and the third location was in Leang Mab's house in Balilai village, Sangkat/city Poipet, Banteay Mean Chey province.
Three suspected drug traffickers were arrested: SUCHAT WANSUWONG, a Thai national with no passport, a 45-year-old Khmer man, Leang Mab called Touch (husband), and a 35-year-old Khmer woman, Long Sokleng (wife).

The police raid netted 25.32kg of methamphetamine crystals(ICE), 785 capsules of methamphetamine (WY tabs), a scales, a car, six smartphones, some ID documents and other goods. The suspects are being held in custody pending trial.

UPDATE: 25 Year Sentences

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: On the morning of February 27, 2023, three Thai and Cambodian prisoners were sentenced by the Supreme Court to 25 years imprisonment in connection with drug trafficking committed in Siem Reap and Banteay Meanchey provinces between 2018 and 2021, involving nearly 25 kg of methamphetamine.

All three were arrested on October 22, 2021 in Reaksmey Samaki village, Nimit commune, Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province and Siem Reap province and were convicted by the Siem Reap Provincial Court on July 1, 2022.

Mr. Soeng Panhavuth, Chief Judge of the Supreme Court, stated that the three convicts were found guilty of: “Illegal trafficking of drugs and money laundering under Article 40 of the Law on Drug Control and Article 29; and Article 30 of the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Law.
Sentences were as follows:
1. Leang Mab, alias Touch Suchart, male, born in 1975, Khmer, sentenced to life imprisonment and fined 100 million Riel to be paid to the state
2- SUCHAT WANG SUWONG, Male, Born in 1957, Thai, sentenced to life imprisonment and fined 100 million Riel
3-Long Sok Leng, female, 35 years old, Khmer, sentenced to 25 years in prison and fined 50 million Riel

After the arrests, the police confiscated a total of 25 packets of methamphetamine packaged in 1 kilogram packets of Chinese tea, 785 tablets of methamphetamine (WY) pills, and some other drug-related items.
