Make sure you patch your Intel CPUs

Post by techietraveller84 »

I just read that there is a new attack called SmashEX, that targets Intel CPUs. Just to be safe I would make sure you check for a patch if you have one. Here is the link to the article if you want to read more. https://cyware.com/news/smashex-attack- ... a-10eb1326

How do you patch a CPU? Is it a bios update? Never heard of such a thing being required.

If you read the article, this was a proof-of-concept attack that researchers did just to see if they could break Intel SGX. No reason to be patching anything.

Though, they found the vulnerability and released a patch for it.

Proof of concept today = worm next month. I am curious if the same attack works (with modification) against OSX, but OSX has the worst security of any OS so it wouldn't surprise me.
