Cold-Blooded Murderer Acts Cool and Attends His Victim's Funeral

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News (Kandal Province): On October 13, 2021, in Ampel Teuk village, Sambour Meas commune, Mok Kompoul, a 40-year-old man, Nguyen Dang Chung, a construction contractor from Prek Ksay commune, Peamro district, Prey Veng province was robbed and murdered. The suspect was a 38-year-old man, Sreng Tay, a construction worker from village 6, Prek Ksay commune, Peamro district, Prey Veng province. However, on October 15, the Kandal and Prey Veng provincial police arrested the man in Prey Veng province who was the suspected robber and murderer.
After the interrogation, the suspect confessed that he was contacted by the victim to discuss the construction work in Phnom Penh. At noon of the day of the incident, the suspect took a sharp and pointy knife with him to meet the victim in a taxi nearby Chbar Ampov market. When the suspect arrived, he had contacted the victim multiple times but was only told to wait for him which enraged the suspect. The suspect claimed that the victim often lied about offering work and made him wait and waste time and money on traveling. After the victim arrived and traveled with him to see the new construction project. It suddenly rained while they were on the road, so they stopped by a restaurant. They got carried away and drank half a case of beer. The victim asked him to stay overnight as the rain continued to pour and it was getting dark which enraged the suspect even more. They argued and left the restaurant. They continued the journey and also carried on the argument. At one point the victim stopped to urinate and got attacked by the suspect. However, the victim tried to fight back with the helmet which made the suspect stab him to death multiple times in the chest and back. The suspect took the motorbike and drove off, and dropped the knife nearby the crime scene. On the way back to his house on National Road 8, the suspect broke off the number plate and dumped the motorbike in a pond by a pagoda in Nak Loeurng village/commune, Peamro district. On the next day, the suspect attended the victim's funeral and acted cool to avoid any suspicion from the victim's family as he was the victim's friend.
The police also seized a smartphone and a motorbike that belonged to the victim. The suspect was put in custody awaiting trial.
