Yes, I'm sure the elite 1% would have a great time running everything by themselves in ghost cities. I can just imagine Jeff Bezos fixing his own rockets in between tending his vegetable patch and pumping water from the well in his yard.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Back to reality:
Five more villages in Siem Reap City shuttered amid rising COVID-19 cases
By Editor September 28, 2021

Siem Reap faces more challenges ahead as Covid-19 and the Delta Variant wreaks havoc across the province. Five new villages in Siem Reap were blockaded after Covid-19 cases spiked among residents.

On September 28, the Siem Reap Provincial Gendarmerie and police closed 5 villages in Sangkat Svay Dangkum, Siem Reap City. The fiver villages are Krous, Stung Thmey, Svay Dangkum, Mondul 1 and Taphul villages.

These are the latest additions to the large numbers of areas in the province that have been declared red zones. The province is currently one of the centres of the rapid increase of active cases in the country, with more than 200 cases reported a day since the lockdown was implemented on September 17.

Rising cases have been linked to the apathy and negligence of those who were vaccinated against Covid-19. The Governor of Siem Reap, Keak Nerom, stated that those who received their second dose already flouted the health guidelines due to the false belief that they would no longer get infected.

Great. The 'blame the citizens' card is now played by the 'competent authorities'.

With the news today it looks more and more likely that lockdown will be extended by another week. Of course only lockdown, there will again be no help or similar in supporting people and businesses. Whenever they let us out again expect 10-20% of the remaining business not to reopen.
Between this and the total disaster of the road renovation the town has nearly lost all the progress made in the last 20 year in less than 2. Not due to covid but due to total incompetence and lack of care by the leadership

I thought everyone being vaccinated in Cambodia was the key to reopening tourism.

Maybe not?

I get the feeling that the official position is as clear as murky water.

Please take care everyone!

Its pretty disgusting what is going on here and it is being done for all the wrong reasons by the (in)competent authorities. Pot bellied bong thom's having their picture taken donating to the poor, that didn't need handouts until they blocked their food supplies, all in all no support is given. Still counting cases without disclosing real figures as to why these actions are necessary.

I suppose the authorities have to be seen to be doing something. But don't blame the citizens if there has been almost zero enforcement to date.

Since it started, things here have got more serious and the end of the road I live on was barricaded yesterday to stop people sneaking in the back door of the supermarket. Also, military(?) were seen yesterday patrolling with the people-catching nets.

And yet there is talk of opening up to tourists soon. Perhaps the tourists will come to see the authorities fishing their citizens off the streets with big nets like in Planet of the Apes. Let's be honest, that would make some good spectating...

Then again if there are no people out on the streets, deserted of its own citizens, the Chinese tourists will not have to quarantine. Also they would not return to their own country with covid like in the past.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

The vaccine does not serve to protect but to identify you with the QR code. Inside it is your health information and soon when they implement the digital currency, everything will be in there. As already happens in China, if you are not aligned with the system, your bank account will shut down, you will no longer be able to travel or do things freely. You will be under their rule. So slaves

It's over! After a news article made the rounds yesterday quoting our governor saying that he intends to extend the lockdown for another week today said governor posted a statement saying that big man HS order the cancelation of ALL red, orange and yellow zones. About time that someone with some competence stepped in to fix this mess
