Cambodia News (Kandal Province): According to a social media post, on September 23, 2021, at 8:30 am in Anlong village, Prek Tamak commune, Khsach Kandal, a 41-year-old woman, Ly Sokleang, a staff of Cafe Amazon at the PTT petrol station, was detained and accused of stealing a purse of a 69-year-old woman, Ly Houng.
Before the incident on September 18 at 7:00 am, the victim and her family were on the way to their hometown in Kampong Cham and they stopped for a gas fillup at the PTT gas station in the location mentioned above.
The victim went to the restroom with her blue purse which she hung nearby the restroom door, but forgot to take once she finished using the restroom. She had already driven off when she realized she forgot her purse. She went back to find it,but her bag was gone. She asked all the staff at the gas station, including the suspect, but all denied knowing of its whereabouts. She talked to the supervisor at the gas station and said she would reward those who found her purse with $200.

On September 20, the supervisor at the gas station checked the CCTV and saw the purse being taken by the suspect. The suspect confessed that she took the purse and hid it, but she said that she returned it back to the restroom after feeling guilty.

On September 23, the victim filed a police report and got the suspect detained and interrogated by the district police. The suspect confessed again that she took the purse home and kept it overnight, but then she returned it to the PTT's restroom because she felt bad about taking it.
