It was Delta Delta Delta and the KT couldn't get enough of it, and then it all went very quiet. Check out the link with the Delta search, there is no data after 11th, just two articles about the effect of Delta in Asia Pacific and a piece on nonsense about how the Phnom Penh Port's profits are up 17% since August 2020, "in spite of the Delta variant".

Since then it's been silence.

Has it been eradicated clinically or just eradicated from the media?

The KT has updated delta figures as of this morning. Something near 6,000 in total. You can draw your own conclusions about accuracy, but here’s a link to the update.

Hey, maybe they are reading CEO!

Or maybe the Delta guy at the KT was on holiday or off sick (with Delta, wouldn't that be a grand irony).

I think that's pretty well on the ball.

Delta variant infected more than 6,500 in Cambodia since March 31
By New Straits Times - September 25, 2021 @ 4:51am
AS OF Sept 23, Cambodia reported a total 6,503 infections from the Delta Variant of SARS CoV-2, compared to 5,751 infections as of Sept 19.

Reports in Khmer Times said Phnom Penh was still recording the most number of infections followed by Siem Reap and seven provinces bordering Thailand.

The first case of Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 was detected on March 31 and since then, the infection rate has surged, especially in past weeks even as vaccination numbers have reached herd immunity levels across the board.

The Centre for Diseases Control (CDC), based out of Atlanta, United States has said that the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 was more infectious and was leading to increased transmissibility when compared with other variants, even in some vaccinated individuals.

The CDC added that the Delta variant might cause more severe illness than previous variants in unvaccinated people.

In two different studies from Canada and Scotland, patients infected with the Delta variant were more likely to be hospitalised than patients infected with Alpha or the original virus that causes COVID-19.

Even so, the vast majority of hospitalisation and deaths caused by Covid-19 are in unvaccinated people. The greatest risk of transmission is among unvaccinated people who are much more likely to get infected, and therefore transmit the virus.

According to the Times, from March 31 to September 23, the Cambodia Pasteur Institute has detected 6,503 cases of Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 infection in almost all provinces and cities across the country.

Besides Phnom Penh being the most infected, it is followed by Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Siem Reap, Battambang and Preah Vihear, all front line provinces which face a deluge of Cambodian migrant workers returning from Thailand as well as Kandal, Tbong Khmum and Stung Treng provinces which have also recorded high infection rates.

My friend received 3rd booster shot of AZ after two Sino. After Sino"s jabs he didn't have side effects, but now after 3rd one he was sick for few days with fever and chills and now he has daily headaches for 3 weeks already. He had never any headache in his life (he doesn't drink).

It has crossed my mind how many people have been positive but asymptomatic and then had a jab. Perhaps this is a cause of some people becoming slightly sick after their jab. Just a thought.

AZ does seem to have a reputation of giving some people a bit of a hard time for a fee days.

Cambodia’s Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 rises to more than 7800 cases
By Editor September 28, 2021

Cambodia’s Delta Variant infection of SARS-CoV-2 virus has increased exponentially to 7,852 as of Monday, 27 September.

The first Delta case was detected on 31st Match 2021 and since then it has grown in numbers and infection rates with the rising infection rates of COVID-19.

Just four days prior on September 23, the number of Delta variant infections was at 6,503. post513997.html#p513997
With the latest infection rates, the increase of 1,349 cases in four days has caused alarm, especially with the cancellation of the Kan Ben and Pchun Ben celebrations.

One of the prime reasons for the suspension of the celebrations was the rapid rise in Delta cases, especially in the capital city of Phnom Penh where 141Buddhist monks and laypeople from 151 pagodas were tested positive for COVID-19 in the first two days of the celebrations.

It is not known whether any of the 141 have been infected with the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 as it takes up to five days for Pastuer Institute to test the PCR samples and genome sequencing to separate and identify the Delta variant.

Siem Reap province too is reeling from Delta variant infections with close to 400 infected as of Saturday, 25 September while their overall cases of COVID has jumped to 11,634 Covid-19 as of the same date and rising despite the almost province wide lockdown to contain people’s movement and in the process, contain the rapid spread of the virus.

Battambang province, facing the Thai border and the deluge of migrant workers from Thailand has also reported close to 400 Delta cases and is fearing the worst with the continued return of the migrant workers.

Oddar Meanchey has reported more than 420 delta variant cases while Preah Vihear, also facing the Thai border has reported more than 200 Delta infections.
