UPDATE: Four Chinese Nationals Sentenced to 11 Years Prison, Following 2020 KTV Drug Bust

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Phnom Penh Municipal Court on September 22, 2021 announced the sentencing of 4 Chinese nationals to 11 years in prison and a fine of 20 million riels (about USD 5,000) into the state budget. The men were charged with illegal drug trafficking and use of banned drugs, under Article 40, Article 42, Article 44 of the Law on Drug Control, in 13 KTV Night Club, located at No. 16, Street 206, Sangkat Depot 1, Khan Toul Kork, Phnom Penh, on the night of August 25, 2020.

The four accused were identified as:
1. Lin Kang Lai, Chinese,male, 47 years old.
2. Houng Fei axion, Chinese, male, 30 years old.
3. Houng Fei Hal, a 23-year-old Chinese man.
4. Zang sin wei, a 25-year-old Chinese man.

Please be reminded that on August 25, 2020, the police force of the Anti-Drug Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Commission launched an operation to crack down on entertainment club No. 13 KTV in Toul Kork, Phnom Penh, where a group of suspects were suspected of facilitating the use of and illegally trafficking drugs. Police detained 93 men and women, foreigners and Cambodians, in the raid.

The four Chinese nationals have now been sentenced, but they have the right to appeal.
