Here are 5 countries that are opening up and living with Covid
Here are 5 countries that are opening up and adopting a "living with Covid" model:
• Denmark
• Singapore
• Thailand
• South Africa
• Chile
More than 18 months into the coronavirus pandemic, a number of countries have decided it's time to open up and adopt a "living with Covid" model.
Some have enviable vaccination rates; others have decided that the costs of continued economic and social restrictions outweigh the benefits.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Spending 7 days on some island or area isn't "opening" for the most of tourists.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 8:40 pm Here are 5 countries that are opening up and adopting a "living with Covid" model:

Literally, dozens of countries have been open for international travel. For example, "International travel to Mexico is permitted. There are currently no requirements in place, such as quarantine or health testing."
However, it seems like many that were previously fully open currently require a negative test or proof of vaccination, for example Albania and others in the Balkans, but nothing else.
In contrast, with the exception of South Africa and to some small degree Thailand, as you know, the countries in the article are basically still closed to international travel.

Thailand's definition of "opening" is pretty funny, considering that (1) they weren't closed outright except for some time in 2020 and (2) most people wouldn't consider going under their stupid sandbox rules. So in a nutshell, they weren't really closed before and they won't be really open with what's been proposed.
Compare this to Europe, where tourism was really happening this summer, THAT is what I would call opening up. No idea why Denmark even needs to be singled out.

Exactly. Europe has been buzzing and still is. A mate just visited Slovakia and had a great time. "where are you going on holiday this year?"
"Denmark"
"WTF are you going there????"
SEA needs to look beyond it's own backyards and take notice the world is leaving them behind. If Europe can open up with a lesser vaccination rate than Cambodia, then what exactly is the problem?
Oh, I remember, not even Cambodia trusts the Chinese vaccines and a pathetic public health system.

Here's one more country opening up... More than 76 per cent of Norway’s population has received one vaccine dose, and nearly 70 per cent had both shots, according to official figures. Australia take note.
Brawls in the streets as Norway lifts COVID restrictions after 561 days
Police in Norway reported dozens of disturbances and violent clashes including mass brawls in the Nordic country’s big cities after streets, bars, restaurants and nightclubs were filled with people celebrating the end of COVID-19 restrictions.
The Norwegian government abruptly announced last Friday that most of the remaining coronavirus restrictions would be scrapped and that life in the nation of 5.3 million would return to normal.
The move included the lifting social-distancing rules and capacity limits on businesses, as well as reopening nightclubs.

Re: Here are 5 countries that are opening up and living with Covid
Yes, now Norway is open for all europeans and there is no more social distancing or other restrictions. On October 1 Norway will be open to everyone in the world providing they have gotten 2 jabs of a approved vaccine. List of approved vaccine in Norway and the EU is short and only has 4 names. Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson and Astra Z. The US approved list is even shorter as Astra Z is not on that.
So we are now in this weird situation where people that has a jab or two of an approved vaccine can travel freely in the US and Europe while the rest of the world has to deal with national and local restrictions.
My prediction is that country after country will adapt to this US/EU model. Several countries in south america + Mexico are also joining in as we speek. And there is a large vaccine tourisme to Serbia from Russia to get an approved vaccine so they can travel freely in the West.

And I read that the EU is now content with the number of received vaccine and has made a big deal with Thailand for the excess Pfizer vaccines.
