Cambodia News (Kandal Province): On September 20, 2021, at 2:50 pm on National Street 8, at the roundabout of the Prek Tamaqk flyover bridge in Kandal province, a 23-year-old sand truck driver was seen accelerating his sand truck (PNH-0319) as he was driving down the bridge.
As a result, in a horrifying carnage, the driver lost control of his truck which crushed everything before him: drivers, pedestrians and street vendors, killing 3 people and seriously injuring 9 others.

The truck first crashed into a Honda Dream, (PNH 1D5675), driven by Kheang, a 45-year-old man, who died along with his wife and son, passengers on the the motorbike: Pheng Vouchleab, a 47-year-old wife, Kheang Kaoly, a 12-year-old son. Only Kheang Pochu, a 7-year-old daughter survived the accident, but she was seriously injured.
After that, the truck continued running into 2 fruit sellers, Chhean Sokouy, a 41-year-old woman, and Ta Reth, a 24-year-old woman who were also seriously injured. The truck then crashed into a car which was parked outside the fruit sellers, injuring the owner and 7 passengers who were there buying fruit.
The runaway vehicle continued to accelerate and smashed into 2 more fruit vendors, where it stopped finally, and no one was hurt here because they ran away in time.


Police say that the cause of this accident was the overloading of the truck, the faulty brake system, and the careless driving. The suspect and damaged vehicles were taken to the police station for further investigation.
