Kampot Karaoke Singers Busted in Honey Bar

Cambodia News, (Kampot): Kampot Provincial Police arrested nearly 20 men and women who were gathering and singing karaoke in violation of the ban on gatherings, on the night of August 23, 2021, at Honey Karaoke Bar in Sovann Sakor Village, Kampot City.

Colonel Lok Nhav, Deputy Commissioner for Criminal Planning of Kampot Provincial Commission, said that he was following the orders of Major General Mao Chanthuri, when at 9:30 pm on August 23, the police raided the karaoke bar and arrested Pov Thou, a 31-year-old male manager who opened the bar for drinking and karaoke parties.

The deputy commissioner confirmed that the police also detained 5 karaoke waitresses, a security guard and 10 guests. The owner of the location escaped. Mr. Lok Nhav confirmed that the 10 guests were from Phnom Penh, Koh Kong and Teuk Chhou districts, Kampot province.

While the manager is being sent to court for breaking the law, the male security guard, the karaoke waitress, as well as all the customers, agreed to receive the police education and they signed a contract not to commit the same crime again.

Another Kampot Karaoke was Raided Last Night

Cambodia News, (Kampot): By order of the Kampot Provincial Police Commissioner, at 9:30 pm, on the night of August 25, 2021, the authorities of Kampot City Inspectorate besieged and arrested 7 men and women who were drinking and singing and enjoying themselves at KTV Karaoke in Kraing Village, Sangkat Kraing Ampil, Kampot City.
They were all taken to the police station for questioning.

Battambang Inspections Find Restaurants Flouting Covid Rules

Cambodia News, Battambang: Many restaurants and eateries in Battambang City are violating the measures of the Ministry of Health, particularly concerning the sales of alcoholic beverages, so on the night of September 16, 2021, the force of the Provincial Department of Tourism and the tourist police inspected the sales activities of restaurants in Battambang City.


Pursuant to the order of HE Governor of the Provincial Board of Governors, the specialized forces inspected more than 10 restaurants and eateries in the city, and found that they were all selling alcohol, which is already a violation of health rules. Not only that, among those locations inspected, there are two restaurants that have opened karaoke without fear of contracting a deadly disease, and violating the provincial ban: Win Win Restaurant and Hang 9999 Restaurant.

Manhunt as 3 escape from COVID quarantine
Authorities are searching for 3 COVID-19 patients who are reported to have escaped from quarantine.

Ratanakkiri Provincial Health Department say that the 3 men escaped from Ratanakkiri Provincial Referral Hospital.

The three have been named as Cham Sovath, 31 years old and Khon Sovann, 31 years old, both of Krala village, Ekpheap commune, O’Chum district, Ratanakkiri province. A third escapee has not been named.

Authorities are now searching for the escaped COVID patients.

Por Sen Chey Raided Again* for Breaking Covid Restrictions
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): According to the Por Sen Chey police, on the night of September 20, 2021, at 21:10 pm, a family KTV and restaurant in Prey Tea 1 village, Sangkat Choam Chao 3, Por Sen Chey, was raided and temporarily shut for breaking the gathering restriction.
44 people including 11 customers were detained and tested for Covid-19 and 6 of them tested positive (1 was an employee) and were being treated right away. Those who were tested negative were put in quarantine.
The police also seized 4 KTV monitors, 4 amplifiers, 11 bass speakers, 23 motorbikes, and 4 cars.

Kratie Karaoke Crackdown

Cambodia News, (Kratie Province): Police in Kratie City on October 3, 2021 at 12:30am raided and closed a karaoke bar in Kratie City and arrested a total of 21 suspects, including 7 women.

Authorities said the karaoke bar was operating in violation of the Royal Government's curfew and in violation of provincial regulations. The exhibits confiscated by the authorities were: 10 motorcycles, 23 mobile phones and some other exhibits, such as alcohol and food (pixelated in the photos below).

Currently, the 21 male and female suspects have been temporarily detained at the Kratie City Police Inspectorate for further proceedings.
