Cambodia to reopen to Tourists
Re: Cambodia to reopen to Tourists
As long as China is on the path of 'zero covid' I don't think it will last long. Once the first tourists return to China with the little Cambodian Delta bugger in their throats the party is over.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 1:22 am Which tourists will be the first welcome visitors, as Cambodia opens the doors of the Kingdom to foreigner tourists ? Chinese may be first in tourism revival: PM

Cambodia's tourism industry is gearing up to roll out the red carpet for Chinese travellers after Prime Minister HE on September 17 indicated that the Kingdom could soon throw open its doors to international holidaymakers vaccinated against Covid-19 – starting with guests from China.
Cambodia Chinese Tour Guide Association (CCTGA) president Tea Kileng told The Post on September 19 that CCTGA members were raring to return to work and welcome back international visitors, especially those hailing from China.

Don't Chinese citizens have to hotel quarantine for 2 weeks here before returning to China? If that's correct then this scheme might never get off the ground. I read about them complaining to their Embassy about it. Very brave of them.Kammekor wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 9:47 amAs long as China is on the path of 'zero covid' I don't think it will last long. Tourism industry is ‘ready for reopening’ and awaits the date
Michael Firn / Khmer Times
Travel agents, tourism consultants, airport operators and airlines all say they are ready to cope with an influx of foreign visitors safely and efficiently. All they need is a reopening date from the Cambodian government.
Industry representatives welcomed last week’s comments by Prime Minister HE that Cambodia should consider a seven-day quarantine for fully-vaccinated tourists, or even a “sandbox” whereby they could leave their hotels and visit nearby attractions during the first week of their visit.
While rumours of a November opening have been circulating, there is confusion over the direction of government policy towards containing Covid-19 after authorities in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap extended restrictions on entertainment venues and banned alcohol sales for another two weeks.

Lets hope so

Chinese people complain all the time anyway @Doc67, there is nothing brave about it in the Chinese community, ok sure they don't spread deconstructive manifestos around and they don't advertise Tiananmen Square gripes on June 4th* every year but they do bitch and moan and when they push the CCP too much they got talked to by their village chiefs first and there is an escalation schedule from there. They bitchedso much that they ended up with the autocracy they have now and it seems to work for them. They still bitch and complain and whine and moan and all the things we humans do.
*Tiananmen was a lot more than just a one day blow out btw- hard to find the real story now since the CCP has "deleted the cookies'' so to speak.....here's someone you cannot look up in China without a tunnel thru the Great Firewall, Zhao Ziyang, the lone dissent vote in the decision to use lethal force against the Tiananmen protestors. He bitched a lot and you can't even find him now online anywhere in Mainland China, his last public speech is worth watching with subtitles. Paraphrased highlights include: admitting to the students that they are right and that these issues will be fixed (items of the protest: more free speech, free elections blah blah blah) eventually but need a process and that the Politburo was already ''too old and they did not matter". He begs them to get off the starvation approach throughout the speech and lauds them for being on the righteous path of the true Chinese.

That would make the first family trip in two years time feasible....Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 3:19 pm Quite a few people in different parts of the industry and the country saying 7 day quarantine from November and tourist visas back.

Sounds good BUT- the competent authorities have been doing tests at my local market in BTP for the 5th time in 10 days.
Makes me wonder if they know something we don't.

The younger generation of chinese know nut about the Tiananmen Massace. They are being smoked out by the chinese propaganda right from their first day at school. Such people are in fact very pitiful. Ask the chinese to do that in their own cities in China, they would probably be sent to detection and tortured.

Gotta say that’s kind of disappointing, 7 days quarantine for fully vaccinated feels like overkill.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 3:19 pm Quite a few people in different parts of the industry and the country saying 7 day quarantine from November and tourist visas back.

Also makes me wonder, if they’re not removing quarantine once most of their population is vaccinated and they’re well underway with their booster shot programme, then when will they? It’s not like covid is going anywhere. Are they gonna just keep quarantining for the next decade?

Re: Cambodia to reopen to Tourists
If it happens it's hopefully a step in the right direction; and may pave the way for shorter or no quarantine to follow if the initial easing proves to be a success. At the end of the day vaccination doesn't prevent the vaccinated from spreading the virus. . . so if no spikes in cases the restrictions may well go by the wayside totally in a shorter amount of time than previously thoughtnerdlinger wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 9:31 pmGotta say that’s kind of disappointing, 7 days quarantine for fully vaccinated feels like overkill.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 3:19 pm Quite a few people in different parts of the industry and the country saying 7 day quarantine from November and tourist visas back.
